Srebrenica

In the summer of 1995, during the Bosnian war, the unprotected enclave around the town of Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia was captured by Bosnian Serb forces, what ensued was a systematic massacre of thousands of Bosnian Muslims, mainly men and boys, in an event that the un secretary general described as the worst crime committed on European soil since the second world war.
Under the hard summer sun of eastern Bosnia, the survivors and relatives gather every year at the Potocari memorial complex to honor the victims of the single worst atrocity that followed the bloody breakup of ex Yugoslavia.
